We are excited to welcome Kavita Hardy as the new Executive Director of Dig In! Yancey Community Garden.
A seasoned and skilled food grower in this area, Kavita comes to us from Arthur Morgan School where she worked for eleven years as a teacher, co-clerk, and farm coordinator among other roles. She also has extensive experience building cooperative relationships and community-based learning as the Program Director for the Blue Ridge Session of the Arete Project.
“I believe deeply in the work of Dig In to nourish our communities by facilitating access to fresh food that is nutritious, grown ethically, shared among friends and family, and culturally relevant. I have been so impressed with how much the organization has been able to accomplish over the last ten years and look forward to continuing to grow and share together,” Kavita said.
Kavita and her family live in the South Toe, where she and her husband are caretakers of the Celo Inn. She loves to cook and bake and finds joy in connecting with the land while hiking, foraging, and greeting the wildflowers when they emerge each spring and summer.
