Fruit Fest with Pie Bake-off!
August 22 @ 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Dig In! Yancey Community Garden invites everyone to celebrate summer’s sweet abundance at our third annual Fruit Fest on August 22, 2025 at Birdfoot and Hearth Glass Gallery! We will celebrate with fruit-themed games, kids activities, vendors, and live music, as well as a fruit pie-bake off!

Local baking experts Bonnie Gullak of La Petite Baking Co and Simone of Sweet Simone’s will be two of the judges of our pie bake-off. One member of the general public will have the opportunity to join our elite panel via an online silent auction.

PIE BAKE OFF RULES
1. Contest is open to amateur bakers of all ages. There will be two categories: Youth (17 & under) and Adult (18+).
2. Pies must be made from scratch and feature a fruit. Bakers may not use store bought crust or pie filling.
3. Each pie submitted must include a list of ingredients (so we can post allergens).
4. Contestants may enter up to 2 pies.
5. Each pie entered must complete the entry form below by Thursday, August 21.
6. The pies must be dropped off at Birdfoot between 3:00 and 4:00 PM on Friday, August 22. If you would like your pie tin back, please label the bottom of the pan.
7. Pies will be judged by a 3 person panel. The judges’ decision will be final.
8. Winners will be announced and prizes for first and second place awarded at 5:00 PM. After the contest, pies will be sliced and the public may purchase samples for a suggested donation.
